Why Pretty Photos Aren’t Enough for Branding Photography
A branding photographer’s perspective on alignment, clarity, and embodiment
A friend of mine asked me the other day, "As a photographer, can you compete with AI? Are you nervous that it will take your job?"
With AI becoming better every day, we've all seen so many AI generated images on social media. People using AI to make their Christmas photos, their headshots, you name it.
The thought had crossed my mind, but the answer was, "No, I'm not worried about it taking my job."
Why not? The answer lies in the foundation of why my work is built the way that it is.
There is an analogy that I've heard a few times. Everyone says they want to be rich. But if I gave you a million dollars right now, would you be able to keep it? Do you know how to invest it? To sustain it? Or will you inevitably lose it?
AI can create pretty photos of you, but can you stand behind the story they tell? When AI creates a photo of you, it's essentially giving you the million dollars; but you have yet to learn how to hold that. So while you put the photo out there to your audience, you are left sitting behind the screen unsure and without clarity on how to move forward with your offers or your business.
My branding photography is built with transformation in mind, not just the pretty photos you receive at the end. I've curated an experience that cultivates clarity, exercises embodiment, and actively allows you to step into your next level of business.
Clarity: The Creative Strategy Call
The first step is the Creative Strategy Call, where we dive deep into your business, your brand, and yourself. We discuss where you are now and, most importantly, where you want to go next. I gather all of this information and create a concept proposal for the branding photoshoot, turning all of the words into visuals. Just the other day, my client and I wrapped up a creative strategy call when she said, "This is the clarity I've been looking for and I feel like we've barely started the process".
Embodiment: The Photoshoot
With clarity gained, the next step is the photoshoot. This is the first level of embodiment in the transformation. You don’t have to worry about posing or knowing what to do. I handle all of that and guide you through every step. I walk you through a process to drop into the role you’re stepping into and to regulate your nervous system before being in front of the camera. Then, I guide you through poses and movements that reflect confidence, clarity, and leadership.
Integration: The Gallery & Beyond
And then you receive the photos.
100+ images that match the next level you are wanting to take your business to. With this visual proof, your next steps become easier. Decisions feel faster. Showing up feels simpler. There’s no more scrambling to find photos that represent your brand or not posting because the photos you have are not representative of who you and your business have become.
In the next post, I’ll show you what this looks like in practice through a client whose photos came before the role she stepped into.
